Skimmer charges you for every pool. We don't.
On Skimmer's Scaling Up plan, every pool you service adds $2 to your bill, every month. On Paythepoolman, pools are free. You pay $15 per tech.
Monthly subscription at published rates, Oct 8, 2026. 75 pools per tech. Excludes processing and add-ons.
Cumulative platform totals published on paythepoolman.com, Oct 8, 2026.
The more you grow, the more Skimmer takes.
Same team, same routes, published prices. Each tech services 75 pools.
Monthly subscription. Paythepoolman = $50 + $15 per tech. Skimmer Scaling Up = $2 per serviced location, $98 minimum. Excludes taxes, processing, add-ons and promotions. Rates checked Oct 8, 2026.
Why compare with Scaling Up, not Skimmer's $1 plan?
We only compare what a pool business actually needs. Skimmer's $1 Getting Started plan leaves out quotes, scheduling, job management, recurring work orders, route optimization, required checklists, Orenda, LaMotte, broadcast emails and live phone support, and charges $0.029 per service text. Those aren't extras. They're how you run your routes and get paid, and Paythepoolman has never held them back behind a higher tier. We believe running on the $1 plan leaves a pool company hamstrung, without the tools it needs to thrive and grow. Our goal is to be your partner and help you grow.

Paythepoolman vs Skimmer FAQ
How does Paythepoolman pricing compare to Skimmer?
Paythepoolman charges $50 a month plus $15 per technician, with no per-pool fee. Skimmer's Scaling Up plan, the one with quotes, scheduling, route optimization, Orenda and live phone support, charges $2 per serviced location with a $98 minimum. Five techs servicing 375 pools cost $125 a month on Paythepoolman and $750 on Scaling Up.
Has Skimmer raised its prices?
Yes. Archived copies of Skimmer's pricing page show its plan with every feature at 50¢ per serviced customer with a $29 minimum in 2016, $1 per serviced location with a $39 minimum by December 2022, and $2 per location with a $98 minimum on Scaling Up from 2024. That is four times the price per pool.
Why compare with Skimmer Scaling Up instead of the $1 plan?
Because we only compare what a pool business actually needs. Skimmer's $1 Getting Started plan leaves out quotes, scheduling, route optimization, Orenda, recurring work orders and live phone support. Those aren't extras. They're how you run your routes and get paid. Paythepoolman has never held those tools back behind a higher tier, so Skimmer's Scaling Up plan, the one that includes them, is the fair comparison.
Can I switch from Skimmer without retyping every customer?
Yes. Upload your customer list from Skimmer or any spreadsheet, and our AI-assisted importer sets your customers up ready to route and bill. Most companies are ready to bill the same day they create their account. If you'd rather hand it off, our team can import your customers for you for a small fee.
Is Pool Junction the same as a customer portal?
No. Pool Junction is an optional branded mobile app your customers download, $25 a month for the whole company, for balances, invoices, bids, service history, messages and payments. Skimmer lists a Customer Portal.
What's included in $50 + $15 per tech?
Invoicing, online payments, routes and route optimization, GPS tracking, bids, leads, Task Hub, income and expense tracking, and free weekday phone, text and email support. Pool Junction ($25/month), payroll ($12 per employee per month plus a one-time sign-up fee) and text credits are optional add-ons.
Is Paythepoolman reliable?
Paythepoolman has served pool companies for more than 10 years and reports more than $422 million in payments processed and more than $1 billion invoiced through the platform. Try it on your own route for 30 days, with free weekday phone, text and email support.
Who owns Paythepoolman?
Paythepoolman is privately owned and family-run, with no outside investors. Founder Jeff Posth ran pool routes for 13 years in Riverside, California, before launching it. Customers keep the base price they signed up at for as long as they stay.
Does Paythepoolman have training?
Yes. Paythepoolman publishes video tutorials on YouTube, including a Getting Started in Paythepoolman 2.0 playlist, and offers free phone, text and email support Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm Eastern.
Does Paythepoolman use separate apps?
One account, with apps by role. Owners and office staff use Paythepoolman 2.0, technicians use the Paythepoolman Plus app, and Pool Junction is an optional app for your customers. Your staff don't need Pool Junction to run the business.
What payment processor does Paythepoolman use?
Card payments run through Stripe. ACH, Apple Pay and Google Pay turn on with the Pool Junction add-on, and an optional $1.50 convenience fee, off by default and paid by the customer, can offset card costs. For many companies, that adds up to thousands of dollars saved every year.
Can I shut off a former employee's access right away?
Yes. An owner can deactivate an employee at any time, and that employee loses access to your company's account right away.
Why doesn't this comparison use Reddit posts or unverified reviews?
Because they can't be checked. Anyone can post anonymously, under any name, with no proof they've ever used the software, so there's no telling who is really behind a post. Claims in those threads are often exaggerated, out of date or simply wrong. Every fact about Skimmer on this page comes from sources you can verify yourself: its published pricing pages, archived copies of them and official announcements, each one linked. Paythepoolman has always strived to be the most trusted company in the pool industry, and that starts with facts you can check.
